Introduction

Learn how to setup various VAV parameters and configurations, PID calculation elements, EC motor voltages, wall type etc.

  1. ONLY AUTHORIZED  MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL SHOULD ENTER ADVANCED MENU AND MAKE CHANGES Picture 1. Press Menu Button Picture 2. Press Advanced to enter Advanced menu

    • Use the numbers to enter 4 digit factory preset pin. Number is being displayed in the blue ribbon

    • Press DEL button to delete incorrect number

    • Press OK to confirm input

  3. Control sequence: The control sequence defines whether the controlled system is capable of heating, cooling or ventilating the zone. Select the desired control sequence by pressing the button next to “Control sequence“. The options are:

    • Cooling - when CO2 level (Air Quality) is higher then Cooling setpoint Codis opens the VAV (Analog Output AO1). When Temperature is higher then setpoint, Codis opens the VAV (AO1) and the Valve (AO2)

    • Heating-when CO2 level (Air Quality) is higher then setpoint Codis opens the VAV (Analog Output AO1). When Temperature is lower then Heating setpoint, Codis opens the VAV (AO1) and the Valve (AO2)

    • Cooling or Heating - using either manual button in Menu, or automatic changeover external RTD sensor or through CBMS device either is in cooling or heating mode. Then it works as above: AirQuality opens AO1 when needed, Temperature opens AO1 and AO2 when needed, depending on Cooling/Heating selected

    • Cooling and heating - for 4-pipe systems. Device is in Cooling mode if sensor temperature is higher then setpoint, and switches to Heating if sensor temperature is lower then setpoint. AirQuality request controls only AO1, Cooling request opens AO1 and AO3, while Heating request opens AO1 and AO2.

    • Ventilation - there is no temperature control, only control of Humidity and Air Quality which open AO1 and AO2

    • Cooling or Radiator - using either manual button in Menu, or automatic changeover external RTD sensor or through CBMS device either is in cooling or heating/radiator mode. Cooling controls VAV openning (AO1) and VAV cooling valve (AO3) while Heating mode controls only Radiator (AO2) independently of the VAV

    • Cooling and Radiator - device cools if sensor temperature is higher then setpoint and heats if sensor temperature is lower then setpoint. Cooling controls VAV openning (AO1) and VAV cooling valve (AO3) while Heating mode controls only Radiator (AO2) independently of the VAV

  4. Cooling / Heating coil - If there are optional heat exchangers or modulating electric heaters, it is necessary to enable the analog output signal for the valve(s) through the “Cooling / Heating Coil” parameter

    • Fan operating mode - A fan can be placed in series or in parallel with a VAV box. The “Fan operating mode” parameter is off by default. The parameter can be set to “Series” or “Parallel” depending on the configuration

    • Series: If the fan is configured in series, the VAV damper actuator and fan are controlled according to temperature or air quality demand. The fan maximum and minimum speed can be adjusted in Parameters [5 / 5] Fan AQ PID and ECM voltage)

    • Parallel without heat exchanger: If the fan is configured in parallel, then the fan is used to recirculate warmer ceiling air. The parallel fan operates only when Heating is active and according to the ambient temperature (the lower the ambient temperature, the higher the fan speed)

    • Parallel with heat exchanger: VAV damper actuator will be controlled according to air quality demand. The fan and heat exchange valve will be controlled according to room air temperature

  5. Dehumdification: C35-VAV... can be configured to dehumidify a controlled zone with the dehumidification parameter. The options are:

    • Enabled - The following system configuration is required to enable dehumidification:

    • Control sequence is set to “Cooling” or “Cooling and Heating”; or “Cooling / Heating coil” parameter is enabled; or The unit or system has a built in relative humidity sensor (optional)

    • While operating in cooling mode, the valve of the heat exchanger will control relative humidity in line with each working modes humidity setpoints

    • Disabled - Dehumidification will be disabled

    • Changeover signal: can be configured to be either Internal or external by CBMS input

    • Occupied timer: The default duration for the occupancy timer is 60 minutes. To adjust the occupancy timer duration, enter screen 01/05 of the parameters menu and increase or decrease the number of minutes using the +/- buttons

    • Press Save to confirm changes

  6. Go to Parameters 2/6 menu

    • VAV Voltage Output : To change analog output (AO1) voltage range from 0-10 V to 2 – 10 V and vice versa press the VAV voltage output button

    • The Proportional-Integral- Derivative controller (PID controller) calculates a difference between measured values and set points. The PID controller minimizes the difference between those values by adjusting openness of the valves, damper actuator or fan speed. Adjust PID gains according to each project’s specifications

    • Tuning a PID controller involves setting values of Proportional band(P-band), Integral time(I-time) or Derivative time(D-time) parameter values. If two-term (PI) or one-term (P) control is needed adjust unnecessary values to zero

    • VAV Temp. PID: is VAV temeperature PID for regulating temperature control

    • Use + and - buttons to increase or decrease values

    • Press value button to enter Keyboard to input PID value number

    • Press Save to confirm changes

    • ECM: The analog output signal for the EC motor can be configured with three parameters:

    • ECM Min Off voltage: If this value is different from zero volts, adjust the ECM OFF voltage to value that will turn off the ECM fan.

    • ECM MIN voltage: Defines the minimum signal value and the minimum speed of the fan (5 %).

    • ECM MAX voltage: Defines the maximum signal value and the maximum speed of the fan (100 %).

    • Use + and - buttons to increase or decrease values

    • Press value button to enter Keyboard to input number

    • Press Save to confirm changes

  10. Wall type: choose between type of wall where device is mounted. Current options:

    • Drywall

    • Press Save to keep changes
